is not just a French translation for bed and breakfast.
It is about being welcomed into the family home as a paying guest and probably originates from the times when farmhouses rented out their rooms to subsidize their incomes during hard times. Table d’hôtes therefore means taking a meal around the hosts table so the evening meal is not served restaurant style but more in the style of a dinner party.
We hope to offer you this traditional idea of being welcomed into our home combined with all the privacy and comforts of your own private suite, guest lounge, conservatory and garden It is important to us that you feel relaxed and enjoy the house and gardens, but secondly have the privacy of your own ensuite room that is spacious enough for you to really enjoy.La Vieille ferme is run by ourselves (Su and Peter Stevens) and we live in an apartment within the house with our two children. We moved here in June 2009 from just outside of London in England and we bring with us over 25 years of experience within the Hospitality Industry. Peter started his chef training in a five star hotel "The Hyatt Charlton Tower Knightsbridge" under the French Executive Chef Bernard Gome where he learnt how much passion and importance the French give their food. He has taken this with him throughout his career but although classically trained, through other influences. We would describe our food as Eclectic European.
We are passionate about fresh ingredients and locally sourced produce including those from our animals and garden and we try to include this as much as possible in our menus. We also have the benefit of a local cider Producer a few doors away. Our aim is to provide somewhere beautiful and revitalizing to stay in .Whether for one night before travelling onwards or for a longer stay to explore all the delights Normandy has to offer
